On this day in 1938 Orson Welles’s adaptation of H. G. Wells‘s novel The War of the Worlds was broadcasted on the radio.
When the programme was aired on October 30th, 1938, many listeners reportedly mistook the fictional broadcast for a genuine news report.

Despite having lived in Munich for so long, today was my first visit to Jazzbar Vogler. We went there to experience the Tobias Meinhart Quartet live, featuring Tobias Meinhart on saxophon, Julian Hesse on trumpet, Peter Cudek on bass and Jesse Simpson on drums.
We had an absolutely amazing time.
I had previously seen Tobias Meinhart perform on July 20th, 2019, at the 38th Bavarian Jazzweekend in Regensburg. On that occasion, he played with the ensemble Fourscore, alongside Alex Jung on guitar, Heiko Jung on bass guitar and Sebastian Lanser on drums.
Today I went to a jazz concert that took place in the courtyard of the Blutenburg Palace in Munich. The ensemble that played was Munich based The Hot Stuff Jazzband consisting of Heinz Dauhrer on trumpet and flugelhorn, Butch Keller on trombone, John Brunton on guitar, Gary Todd on bass and Hermann Roth on drums. Special guest was Canadian jazz vocalist Nina Michelle.

Since Macintosh computers have a dedicated keyboard key to view the Character Viewer with emojis I was wondering, if Windows computers have something similar. Turns out there is. You just have to press the Windows logo key and period (.).

Today in the morning I realized that the Dropbox folder on my MacBook Pro had a green check mark icon attached to it. When I opened that folder, all the files that are synced with Dropbox had the same green check mark icon attached to it.
I remember that some years ago I found a way to remove them, but could not remember how I did it. I know that these sync icons show the status of that file or folder, but for me they are just annoying and distracting. That’s why I googled to find out, how to get rid of them. I found several posts in the Dropbox Community, but all without any solution.
A CNET article describes a quick tweak to rid myself of the green check marks. With “Show Package Contents” of the Dropbox programme and navigating to a certain folder I found the overlay file for the unwanted icon. I renamed it and relaunched the finder. But without success. Also deleting the file and restarting the Finder did not change anything.
I looked at other results of the Google search. In another thread in the Dropbox Community one user had the solution.
I had to open System Preferences and choose Extensions. There I had to uncheck the Finder Extensions for Dropbox. Finally I could see no green check-marks anymore.
